Course description:
This fully online course covers managing and monitoring a Windows Server
2008 network.
Configure Windows 2008 Server for IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DNS,
Active Directory, network security protocols including Internet Protocol
Security (IPSec), routing and remote access using Network Policy Server (NPS).
Prerequisite: EET 131 or IT 122 (IT 122 November be taken concurrently) or permission.

Quizzes All quizzes are available throughout the quarter. They do not turn off until
11:55 PM on Wednesday March, 2015. That being said, do the quizzes the same week the chapter readings are assigned rather than waiting until the last minute to complete them! The Quizzes can be taken as many times as you like.

Midterm
Final
Only the highest grade is kept in the grade book. Each quiz is 24 questions long. The pool of questions drawn from each chapter has 26 questions meaning some questions change on the second attempt
The mid-term exam will be enabled on Saturday, January 24 th at 8 AM and must be completed by 12 AM Monday February 16, 2015.
The final exam will be enabled at 8 AM on Saturday February 14 th and is due by
11:55 PM (Pacific Time) Wednesday, March 25, 2015.

Lab grades are based on your completion of the labs in the Web-Based labs included with your book available at the NSC bookstore. There are 141 labs worth 2.5 points each for a total of 352.5 Points. All Labs must be completed by Monday, March 23rd by 11:55 PM for full credit. Labs completed after
11:55 PM Monday, March 23rd will be worth 50% of full credit until 11:55 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
This course relies on Canvas and on the LabMentors online lab environment to
support all assignments, quizzes, and exams. Although there is some flexibility in the type of PC or laptop you can use to access the online learning environment, there are also specific requirements and limitations. The most recent information about hardware, network, and operating system compatibility is featured below. New hardware/software combinations are coming out all the time, and version changes to things like web browsers may affect your ability to access resources for this course. If you are having trouble accessing either Canvas or LabMentors from a particular device, operating system, or network location, please try to change one or more of these elements to see if you can get access with a different combination. If all else fails, feel free to post any questions in our Tech Help discussion board thread.
This thread will allow your classmates to offer solutions. It will also make the instructor aware of your issues and provide the opportunity to give feedback that may be helpful to you and others.
1. You must use a computer running a Microsoft operating system such as
XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 in order to do the Windows
7 labs in this class. You will not be able to install the lab application required to do the labs for this class on NSC lab computers or on Apple or Linux desktops, so you need to have access to your own Windows-based computer to do the

Windows 7 labs.
2. NSC is not responsible for assuring students have Internet access from home or other remote locations. Students are responsible for assuring access to the Internet in order to access the Canvas and LabMentors websites. The instructor will assist you with troubleshooting any network connection problems, but ultimate responsibility for finding a working network connection is yours.
3. Some netbooks will only display this Canvas website properly when using an external monitor due to resolution problems with the smaller screens.
Support for netbooks is not guaranteed.
4. Smartphones, phones and slate or tablet computers are not supported in this class. You may or may not be able to run the labs and/or Canvas website using these devices.
