Week 7-10 Experiment: Attend or Participate in a Literary Reading
Now that you have some ideas about what to attend, your assignment is to get out and go
to one (or more). You’re required to attend or participate in at least one reading between
now and June 10 (the end of week 10). You’ll attend the reading and write it up using the
directions below. If you attend or participate in more than one reading, it’s good for extra
credit, so go for it!
Options:
You may attend a literary reading as a member of the audience.
You may attend and participate in a literary or open mic reading.
You may come read (poetry only) to my poetry class at North on (May 25 or June 1).
Write-Up:
Write up two or more pages about the event. First SUMMARIZE the event. Where was
it, who read, how many people were there, what was the content of the reading?
Second, RESPOND TO the event. What did you like or love or hate ? What was boring?
What was exciting? If you read, what was that experience like for you? Would you do
this again? The write up is required to get credit for experiment for weeks 7-10, so don’t
skip this step. I’m looking for a detailed, thorough account of the outing, including the
weather, the quality of the coffee (or beer, etc), and the relative fun or misery value of the
whole experience.
