ABOUT:
Cricket is an international game. Most of the people like Cricket
very much. Cricket was first played in southern England in the 16th
century and by the end of the 18th century, it had developed into the
national sport of England and finally the mid19th century the first
international matches were being held. Basically Cricket is a bat and ball
game played between town teams. A Cricket match 11 players are
participants each team on a grassy fields, typically 137–150 meters
(150–160 yd) in diameter. The Laws of Cricket do not specify the size or
shape of the field but it is often oval. The bowler bowls the ball in sets of
six deliveries or balls and each set of six balls is called an over. Each
team is to score more runs than the other team and to completely dismiss
the other team. A cricket match consists of multiple periods called
innings. During an innings, one team plays defense fielding and the
other offense batting. The two teams exchange between fielding and
batting after each innings. In limited overs cricket, winning the game is
achieved by scoring the most runs, even if the opposition has not been
completely dismissed. In Test cricket, it is necessary to score the most
runs and dismiss the opposition twice in order to win the match, which
would otherwise be drawn.
The Laws of Cricket are maintained by the Marylebone Cricket Club
(MCC) and International Cricket Council (ICC) with supplementary
playing conditions for Test matches and One Day International. Test
matches played over five days.
