Eligibility Criteria for Student Senate Positions
Candidates for all positions must be full-time (12 credit) matriculated students. “Eligibility for participation in any College
activity requires a student to be fully matriculated and carrying at least 12 hours in the current semester. An organization may
require, in addition, a particular grade point average. Eligibility is required… to hold office (elective or appointive, editorial or
other post) in any organization chartered by the College or using the Utica College name in which participation does not carry

Candidates for all positions must not be on social probation. “Students on social probation are ineligible to hold or run for
elected or appointed positions in student organizations and may not travel on behalf of the College or represent the College in

2.5 cumulative GPA, and have been a student at UC for at least 2 semesters:
President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Chief Justice Elections to fill these positions, and most Class
Officer positions, are held in April. (Same requirements for appointed positions of Comptroller, Programming Board
Director, & Public Relations Director).
2.5 cumulative GPA (except first semester freshmen as long as they achieve a 2.5 GPA in their first semester):

2.0 cumulative GPA, and have been a student at UC for at least 2 semesters:
Finance Committee Representatives (2 elected, 2 appointed)

2.0 cumulative GPA (except first semester freshmen as long as they achieve a 2.0 GPA in their first semester):
Student Senators (elected in fall)
Class Officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary)

**2 Senators for each class (elected in fall by Class Officers)**
Class officers and class senators must have enough credits to be a member of their class (including credits currently in
progress): Senior Class = 87 hours; Junior Class = 57 Hours; Sophomore Class = 27 hours, at the time when they take
office (which occurs immediately following the end of the spring semester, per 4/2/03 ruling of the Elections Committee).
