EGEP Team Minutes 3/6/08 Present: T.Sandrin S. Sandrin Rettig Wresch Meyerson Jambunathan Freed We need further work to disseminate this call and drum up interest. It’s important to speak to smaller groups such as faculty meetings, and COLS division meetings as well as to distribute e-mail announcements. COBA and COEHS have both declined to have us speak at college meetings. The survey is nearly ready for distribution; timeline constraints have been lifted by the Provost’s office. We also need to build interest in the survey so that we get a good response; Wresch suggested some interviews might supplement the information we gather from the survey. Members of the Team will likely be asked to answer questions as “program representatives”. They will need to be prepared to clarify program requirements, and to differentiate this from the faculty development program grants mentoring activity and research component. They should also emphasize the need to contact funding agency representatives before preparing their EGEP proposal. It is important to emphasize strategies for long-term external funding support as a key element of these proposals. Jambunathan suggested, T Sandrin concurred that we should post FAQ’s about the program as questions come in. The group discussed correspondence from Greg Wypizinski regarding graduate students as lab instructors/teaching assistants. Next meeting will likely be in late April to review survey results.
