Universal Jobmatch – CV Builder Guidance You can create up to 5 CVs by using the Copy and Paste function and then adapting the wording to suit various job goals. However, only 1 CV can be public at a time so it’s important that this one contains the maximum information needed to be picked up in a search by recruiters. It is recommended that you use the CV builder function as this will help to ensure the CV contains all the information needed for the system to match to a vacancy. Once you have clicked on “save and continue”, the following screen will be displayed : A drop down menu will be available eg. “entry level”, “experienced nonmanager” You will then be asked about your work experience : If you have no relevant work experience, ensure you complete the “Additional information” box which will appear later – they will need to include details of any relevant skills, courses, voluntary work etc. “End date” field defaults to “present” so appropriate end date must be selected Vital that this is completed fully. Use bullet points so that it’s easier to read. Use “positive action words”. Open this for further information : Further work experience can be added by clicking on “Add Experience”. The next screen asks you about your education : Drop down menu available. There is also a link available for educational level clarifications If no relevant education, ensure details of relevant skills and experience are included in “Additional information” box later Ensure that all dates are correct and that licences and certificates are valid. Include internal courses as well as external. There is more room to add further education if required Ensure that referees have agreed to give a reference! Try to have at least one professional reference. If this is difficult, could you use a course tutor, provider, etc. Aim for at least 2 references. Further languages can be added using the “Add Language” button Put as much information as possible in this box – information that doesn’t fit elsewhere, such as : Relevant skills and/or voluntary experience if applying for a job with no previous work experience or no relevant education Relevant achievements from activities undertaken outside work Qualities/attributes backed up with examples Interests/hobbies (IF RELEVANT) Explanations of gaps in employment eg. training, carer, doing voluntary work (try to avoid the word “unemployed” After you have selected the type of job they are seeking, you will be asked about status, availability and travel preferences … Most of our customers should be available for work immediately, if unsure check your Jobseekers Agreement.
