How to Get Involved and support
the
LGBTQ Community
 Attend SAFE ZONE Ally Training
 Attend a workshop about diversity or homo/transphobia, such as the
Multicultural Center’s Diversity Dinner Dialogues and/or Gender Studies
Lecture Series
 Go to campus events put on by The LEAP Initiative or Pride at UTD
student group
 Go to off-campus events like the LGBTQ Pride Day parade
 Read books by and about LGBTQ people and poetry or stories with
LGBTQ themes
 Research and write an article or letter for the Mercury, Modest Proposal
or school assignment
 Learn about campus, local, state and national policies that affect LGBTQ
people
 Ask questions about LGBTQ issues
 Speak up when you hear anti-gay jokes, put-downs of LGBTQ people, or
offensive or stereotypical remarks
 Report any harassment, bullying, hate crimes, etc.
 Share your programming ideas
