1. Rerunning the optimization accomplished in section L10.2.1 with 5 replications and
moderate optimization produces the same answer as the original optimization; a
process time of 1.0 minute.
2. Running with Process Time and TBA as real as opposed to integer types significantly
increases the run time, and the response surface indicates the existence of another
local maximum that was not visible in the integer version of the optimization.
Optimal values for this run are Process Time = 3.61 and TBA = 5.
3. The custom objective function shown in figure 10.23 is effectively a “sawtooth”; the
value is given increasing weight as it approaches a value of 500, then drops precipitously
to zero thereafter.
