Case 1. Programming-Plus Corporation Donald Van Pelt of Chicago, Illinois, is CEO of a large national consulting firm called
Programming-Plus Corporation (P+C). P+C provides freelance programming in C++, Java, and other languages; supplies temporary
employees with expertise in programming; and trains corporate programmers in advanced programming techniques. Donald asks you
to help prepare a PowerPoint presentation to give to sales personnel so they can present information about P+C services,
I . Start PowerPoint, start a new presentation, and import the Word outline PPCOtln located in the Tutorial.04 Cases folder.
2. In Slide 1, type Programming Plus Corp. as the title in the title slide, and type your name as the subtitle in the title slide.
3. Apply the design template from the presentation file PPCDes located in the Tutorial.04 Cases folder.
4. Go through all the slides and reapply the Title and Text Slide Layout to all the slides with bulleted lists.
5. Save the presentation to the Tutorial.04 Cases folder using the filename PPCServices. (You won't include any spaces in the
filename in anticipation of creating a Web page because some browsers don't accept spaces in the filenames.)
6. In Slide 3, embed a Word table from the file PPCThl located in the Tutorial.04 Cases folder. Resize the table so it appears as large
as possible.
7. In Slide 4, start to create a chart by changing the slide layout to Title and Content, and then clicking the Insert Chart button. Click
the gray button in the upper-left corner of the datasheet to select all the cells, and then press the Delete key to delete all the current
data.
8. Click the cell above the unlabeled column-the cell above and to the left of cell Al, start Microsoft Excel (using the normal method
for running a program), open the Excel file PPCData (located in the Tutorial.04 Cases folder), select all the data in the spreadsheet,
and then copy and paste that data into the PowerPoint datasheet. This demonstrates that you can import information using the
copy-and-paste feature.
9. Click Chart on the menu bar, click Chart Options, click the Titles tab, insert the Value (Z) Axis Amount in $Millions, click the OK
button, and then deselect the chart.
10. In Slide 7, import the digital image Temp located in the Tutorial.04 Cases folder. Position the image to the right of the bulleted list.
11. In Slide 2, import the digital image HeadQ located in the Tutorial.04 Cases folder. Position the image below the bulleted list.
12. Still in Slide 2, insert a text box to the right of the image with the text Contact Us with 24-point Arial font, and then make that text
a hyperlink to Slide 9.
13. In Slide 9, insert the action button titled Home, and make it a hyperlink to the first slide. This will allow Donald to easily jump
from the end to the beginning of the slide show.
14. Go through the presentation in Slide Show View, and when you get to Slide 9, "How to Contact Us," insert an action item. Type
the description as Create an FTP Site, type the Assigned To as Bob, and set the Due Date to 3/10/03.
15. After completing the slide show, save the presentation (including the Action Items slide) using the default filename.
16. Print the presentation as handouts with six slides per page.
17. Publish the completed presentation as a Web page so it can be viewed properly in Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 and Netscape
Navigator 3.0, or later, and then view the slide show in your browser.
18. Close PowerPoint and then, if it's still open, close Excel.
