Temple proclaimed prepared financially, otherwise for future The Temple Daily Telegram reports that Temple is in good shape and ready to handle the future, according to Mayor Keifer Marshall Jr. and city staff , Monday at a “State of the City” update for current and former City Council members and mayors. Finance Director Sam Huey reported the city is in great financial shape, due to the fiscal conservatism of the past and present city councils. Huey said increased property values that have outpaced inflation; increased sales tax revenues for the past 12 years, with the exception of the year Texas Instruments closed; and since 1992, revenues exceeding budgeted expectations and expenditures less than budgeted are examples of the city’s financial strength.
