Scottish clans end gathering SALADO — "Scottish mist," even when accompanied by a cold wind that blows in from the Texas prairie and gray skies that refuse to part, fails to keep the Scottish faithful from gathering. The Temple Daily Telegram reported that the 39th annual Gathering of the Scottish Clans concluded Sunday in Salado and concluded with a parade of bagpipes and kilts down Main Street late Sunday afternoon. No sound matches the mournful sound of bagpipes, and it came alive with high steps and a lively march when about six visiting groups participated in the parade. People lined the streets, at one time forced to seek shelter under the storefront overhang when the rain began to get heavy, and after the parade, milled into the open stores in downtown Salado. The Salado Museum served as official headquarters, and several vendors from across the state hawked their wares to those interested in picking up a flavor of the event or taking home something that represented their heritage.
