Community Colleges have become one of the fastest growing
educational institutions in the country. One of the primary missions of a
community college is to serve the community: to be the educational and
cultural focal points in the region. Since 1926, Temple Junior College
(now known as Temple College) has done that very thing. Temple College
is a public community college located in Temple, Texas. The campus is
located on 104 acres in south Temple. The purpose of this study was to
provide a history of Temple College since 1965. The study will identify
the significant events in the development of Temple College, the
characteristics of the college, and describe the philosophy, the
organizational structure, curriculum and administrative policies of the
school. Interviews as well as other primary and secondary sources were
used to gather data on events that shaped the development of this
community college.
