What was your institution’s personnel requirement for the conversion phase? We used a group of 7 dedicated for 18 months leading up to actual conversion to the latest release. We then used our entire systems and programming staff for 13 days straight over a holiday period. Our staff did not change after conversion. 4. IThe afterward support? Please include all positions in other departments that mperform I.S. type duties. 5. What were your experiences with the installation and conversion of your software system? Painful but has smoothed out over the last year. 6. Did the software vendor provide training to your staff as well as other college personnel? Yes and no….To staff yes, and then we did train the trainor.Was it adequate? Is it ongoing? Yes, hired full time trainer knowledgeable in our systems. 7. How is the level of service you receive for user support and system support? What is the cost for this? Our annual maintenance contract with the software vendor is around $115,000. We are happy. 8. What was the cost of the software package(s)?I was not here and do not know Is there a cost for each user? $495 – we have 456 concurrent licensed What is the annual maintenance cost? $115,000 9. Does the software vendor provide regular and timely updates?yes How about for Federal and State reporting requirements?yes 10. What hardware platform does your system run on? HP UX K580 What is the cost associated with this? $20,000 per year (it is a $600,000 system) 11. Does your software currently allow for Web based access (Application, Registration, and Payment)? Bringing this up now. 12. 13. How do you handle security for traffic outside your firewall? Don’t understand question – firewall stops outside entry. If you mean distance learning students, they access a special server outside the firewall for FTP and chats. Comments.
