Chun Yang is the Recipient of the Roberto Fabri Fialho Scholarship
for Academic Year 2010-11
This scholarship is awarded in memory of Roberto Fabri Fialho, PhD, Biology, UVM, an
extraordinary scholar, admired teacher of undergraduates, and friend of all who knew him. It
is awarded to a UVM PhD candidate in the final year of study who exemplifies some of Dr.
Fialho’s outstanding qualities.
The faculty members who work with Chun Yang are very pleased with her accomplishments
to date, and the members of the selection committee commented on both her suitability for
the award and the high quality of work in her doctoral program.

Heather Axen Awarded
The Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Grant
Heather will be traveling to Arizona and Texas
to complete some collecting for studies on
biogeography of a hybridizing fire ant, and
ecological persistence of hybrids in the
presence of their parental species.
