Description of Business Environment:
Lockheed Martin is developing its Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
presence significantly in the UK. It has ambitions to bid for, win and execute a number of
major UK Government ICT programmes.
It is currently executing a major Civil Government service provider ICT programme, a
key element of this programme involves the introduction of and transition to a Lockheed
Martin Service Integration and Management (SIAM) function. This function will be
responsible for the Service Management of the ICT estate for a major Civil Government
Department.
To support this Lockheed Martin is looking to recruit highly motivated professionals with
experience in the delivery of major service transition programmes of work and within the
Service Operations ITIL discipline.
Specific Job Description:
Responsible for the administration, support,designing and planning of network
communications systems. This may be exercised in a project engineering management
or specialist network engineering role. This will generally include working with the wider
engineering team.
Work is performed under general direction to independently determine and develop
approaches to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting
objectives and soundness of technical judgement.



Carry out specialist technical and/or engineering activities in a professional manner
in support of project and company objectives
Carry out complex network engineering assignments requiring familiarity and
expertise with a broad field of engineering and technical knowledge
Work closely with a team of professional engineers in achieving assigned project
objectives and be responsible for technical, cost and schedule performance












Create, participate in and may take responsibility for project planning and estimating,
status monitoring and reporting
Participate in technical and program reviews at varying levels with management and
customers, including review of subcontractor involvement
Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
Devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners and draw
conclusions from comparative situations
Develop and revise network technical documentation
Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of
network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such
as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways
Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities
of the network
Make decisions on the assessment of tools and network products
Lead mandated network reviews as required
Work within the boundaries of company policies and procedures and ensure team
adherence
Take a lead role in ongoing Quality and Business Improvement initiatives
Other duties as required

hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most
efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity
requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all
areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing,
such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and
reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Required Skills:
Qualifications
 Appropriate degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience/combined
education, with professional experience and specialised training commensurate with
assignment
 Relevant Professional Memberships desirable
Experience
 Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a ‘can-do’, proactive, approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop
relationships to achieve Lockheed Martin’s objectives.
 Professional experience within the relevant technologies and domains
