The Russian Revolution Introduction The Russian Revolution occurred in the year 1917. In March the Russian people overthrew their Tsar, six months later the Provisional government was overthrown and replaced by a Communist dictatorship. This revolution would lead to the rise of Communism and begin a new type of war that would last for over 70 years: The Cold War.
