Teachings of non-western indigenous cultures of the Americas. 3 Cr. DEMAND.

Provide a concise explanation of how the following goal is a “significant focus” of the proposed course.
Goal Area 8: Global Perspectives
Develop a comparative perspective and understanding of one’s place in a global context.
The course asks students to study the effects of U.S. policies on a minority ethnic group of the Americas not
only in the United States but in the ethnic group's country of heritage. The course asks the students to study
the effects in the country of heritage itself.

outcomes (SLOs) below. Check the SLOs below that are focused on in the proposed general education course.

SLO 3 is achieved when students discuss the environment, society, economy, and culture of an indigenous group
and its relationship to the greater society or nation.
SLO 4 is achieved when students analyze an issue concerning an indigenous group.
