Required for international undergraduate students from school outside the US or Canada. International students who have studied in the US for at least one academic year full-time are exempt. Goal Area 8: Global Perspectives Develop a comparative perspective and understanding of one’s place in a global context. This course focuses on learning about and adjusting to a new culture. The new culture in focus happens to be the US culture for the clientele of this course. This fits into Goal Area 8 (Global Perspectives) because the students in this course learn about analyzing and understanding both the target culture and their own culture. For international students at SCSU, learning about the US culture through a well-designed course is a critical part of developing global perspectives. For US citizens and permanent residents, this course provides multicultural perspectives. 13.
