Goal Area 6: Humanities & Fine Arts Expand appreciation and critical understanding of changing modes of human expression and systems of thought in the arts and humanities, and develop abilities in the creation and performance of meaning. The focus of IM 260 is examining information technologies as a means of human expression and communication. Students analyze how these technologies are used by individuals to distribute information, access information, and for learning. Students develop abilities to create a web presence and other Web 2.0 projects as a means of expression utilizing a thorough understanding of design and aesthetics. 13. In order for a course to be designated as fulfilling Goal Area 6, it must address at least 5 of the 7 student learning outcomes (SLOs) below. Students create a range of projects to demonstrate their ability to select and apply various tools to establish their own personal web presence and demonstrate their knowledge of web design aesthetics. In their written and web work, students are required to evaluate, formulate a point of view, and present their findings on emerging and controversial issues in information technologies. SLO 7.
