To be the most improved school in the district where every child learns and grows.
Classroom News
We are all working hard in
kindergarten and good progress is being
made. Please have your child reread the
little booklets they bring home every
week. Also, have them put together their
sight words and sound words out as they
read and write to help them to become
fluent readers and writers. Practicing
writing and reading at home is
essential to success in school! One of
our students wrote a story at home and
brought it to school to share with the
class! It is very exciting to see the
students growing into such good readers
and writers.
Repetition and review are very
important to learning. Many students will
learn something well after working with
it for several days. Parents and students
may think they will know it forever, only
to find out that once they stop practicing
it, they have forgotten it! Extra
practice on letters and sounds –
especially vowels- and tapping out
sounds in words will support your child
in becoming a fluent reader and writer!

Standards
Students are working on adding
and subtracting numbers up to 10 using
oral storytelling, manipulatives, and
number bonds. They should be able to
count items and write numbers
accurately (without reversals) at least
to 20. At this point students should be
able to orally count forward to 100.
In ELA students are reading and
writing sentences that include words
they can sound out as well as sight
words. Students are working on
identifying the main topic and retelling
key details from informational text.
Students are also learning “how to”
describe events in order using key words
such as “first, next, then, last”.
