Special tax breaks and privileges are granted to those who are given the opportunity to marry. Since I am gay, I am not given that same opportunity. Therefore, I am treated differently simply because of how I was born. The Federal Government gives me two options.....#1. I could simply marry a woman for tax purposes OR #2. I can simply accept that I'm treated unequally in our society and not given the same special tax breaks that straight Americans are given. I find neither acceptable or American.
