Subject: About the unfairness to same sex couples
Dear sirs and/or madams,
I have recently received information from my
employers that whatever health insurance my domestic partner receives
under me is added on to my W-2 as income and will be taxed to the
fullest extent of the law. The amount is about $3300 and change and my
partner is totally dependent on me for food, clothes and shelter. Is it
fair to tax me as well as other same sex couples who have dependents
whereas different sex spouses are not subject to this tax? I serve my
nation as others do (as a elementary school teacher) and should like my
partner and myself along with all other hard working same sex couples
to be treated as heterosexual domestic partners and spouses in this
great nation of ours whose constitution states that all should be
treated equal. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Vari Christina Neuner
