Guests:
through the Deans to each school. One course was
reviewed by the Assessment Committee last summer with
the goal to identify strengths and opportunities for
improvement or additional focus. Concerns raised about
the reviewer references to high-school standards in an
assessment report were discussed. Myton will follow-up on
identifying Michigan secondary content standards and making that information available to
schools
b. Progress in course and program assessment was reviewed, while not meeting the targets we
are making progress – see Figure 1 in the document:

c.
Faculty have inquired if the Assessment Committee would review additional courses upon
request. The committee expressed support for this, Myton will include an invitation in the next
Provost Report.

5. Fall 2014 Photo-Assessment Project
a. Committee affirmed their desire to conduct cycle 2 of the Digital Assessment Project designed
to give university community members an opportunity to make submissions about what is good
and what needs improved about LSSU. This year the committee increased from 10% to 25% of
faculty, students and staff who will be solicited for input, but reduced the number of
submissions requested to 4 in each of two categories: “best of LSSU” and “improving LSSU”.
Myton will send invitations with goal to not include individuals who were included previously.
The text of the website where the photos are submitted (username “da” and password “lssu”)
was modified to reflect the revised methodology.

c. NEW TEXT: The Assessment Committee periodically invites a number of randomly selected students, faculty, and staff
to submit up to four photos that capture the best of the LSSU experience, up to four that capture areas needing
improvement. It is up to you to determine what those terms mean to you - but they may NOT be photos singling out
