Health Science Hospital Rotations Course
Purpose:
This program prepares the students to become future professionals. Students are taught
professional standards from the beginning of the program. Students are expected to exhibit a high level of
professionalism at all times whether in the clinical setting, inside the classroom, or outside the classroom.
Application is required.
Based on:
1. Essential knowledge and skills needed by health care providers.
2. High professional standards and expectations of students and instructors.
3. Leadership development and community service.
4. Preparation for postsecondary education or certifications.
5. Community resources and strong industry partnerships.

Health Science Hospital Rotation course: This course is a learning opportunity in which a student must meet
specific requirements. As part of this class, the student will have opportunities to participate in learning opportunities
in a hospital setting within the community. Due to the nature of the program and the partnership with the hospital, the
student requirements and expectations that are governed by the hospital’s policies and procedures must be met in
order to participate as an observer in the facility. The student must adhere to all expectations set forth by the Health
Science Program and Hospital at all times to continue to participate as an observer.
Health Science course student admission requirements:
1. Completed the prerequisite courses with a 70 or above.
2. Home campus Health Science instructor approval with signature.
3. Exhibit the following:
a. High maturity level
b. Critical thinking skills
c. Effective communication skills
d. Ability to work well with others
e. Ability to be self-motivated and take initiative
f. A strong desire to learn
g. Adherence to attendance requirements and punctuality
h. Professional integrity
i. Ability to comply with program standards and expectations
j. Strong work ethic
k. Effective time management skills
4. Attended the Mandatory Meeting with a parent/guardian.
5. Completed the Mandatory Test
6. Completed the Entire Application Process by the Designated Due Date.
7. All References Submitted by the Designated Due Date.
Hospital Rotation Course:
1. Approved student placement
2. Pass background investigation:
a. The background investigation includes but not limited to any concerns in regard to the student’s
character, behavior, attendance, grades, any disciplinary actions, and/or criminal background
history within the school setting and/or outside of the school setting.
b. Refusal to provide the information and/or the complete information for the background investigation
will be an automatic denial into the class.
c. If discovered at a later time that any information provided was inaccurate and/or misrepresented,
the student will be permanently removed from the program immediately.
3. No history of alcohol use or unlawful drug use:
a. This includes but not limited to probation for alcohol use and/or unlawful drug use, unlawful
possession, use, or distribution of alcohol, illegal drugs and/or legal drugs obtained illegally, alcohol
related misconduct, and/or illegal use of a prescription medication.
b. Refusal to provide the information and/or the complete information for the background investigation
will be an automatic denial into the class.
c. If discovered at a later time that any information provided was inaccurate and/or misrepresented,
the student will be permanently removed from the program immediately.
4. Provide current documentation of the following:
a. Up to date immunizations
b. Current Negative Tb test
c. Current Flu vaccination
d. Current Negative Substance Abuse Screening results in accordance with our Program Random
Drug Screening Process
5. Pass the American Heart Association’s Healthcare Provider CPR course: Written test and Hands – On
Performance Test. Due to the critical nature of this knowledge and skills competency, the assessment
requires the use of critical thinking, manual dexterity, and speaking skills where the tests are intended to
measure essential functions and ability to perform specific skills within designated time frames.
6. Attend the Health Care Facility’s mandatory orientation
7. Pass the mandated Health Care Facility HIPAA test with 100% without modifications and/or assistance on
the first attempt.
8. The student must adhere to the following to continue participating in hospital rotations:
a. Comply with all Health Care Facility and Health Science Program policies, guidelines, and
expectations
b. Exhibit professional integrity along with fulfilling ethical and legal responsibilities, recognize
limitations, and acknowledge understanding of the implication of their actions whether in the school
setting or outside of the school setting.
c. Maintain a grade point average of 70 or above in the Health Science class.
d. No missing assignments in the Health Science class.
e. No issues and/or concerns in regard to behavior, attendance, or grades in school or outside of the
school setting.
9. Student non-compliance will result in disciplinary action with possible removal from the Health Science
Program at the ATC.
