This class is an advanced class; a higher standard of academic achievement is expected from
every student. Some activities that students will be expected to participate in are writing
assignments, major projects, class activities, homework assignments, lectures, note taking, map
work, current events, map tests, and unit tests.
GRADING POLICY
The class is set up with 30% of the grade resulting from daily work and 70% from major projects
and tests. In order to be successful in my class, homework needs to be turned in on time.
Students also need to prepare for both map and unit tests. All information needed to pass a test is
provided before the day of the test. It is important for all work to be turned in on time.
---If you are absent on a scheduled test day, our grading policy states that you MUST TAKE
THE TEST ON THE DAY THAT YOU RETURN TO CLASS
---Retests: you may take a retest up to 10 school days after the scheduled test has been taken.
Retests will cover the same material but will have different questions than the scheduled test.
TEXTBOOK
We will have a class set of textbooks

FINAL THOUGHT
Don’t let that outline frighten you. We are simply focusing on the world around us. I am going to do my
best to show you how wonderful this world is by pointing to the things that make each culture unique.
By understanding the differences, you will find that you interact with people on a whole new level.
When we do not understand a thing, humans tend to fear and hate that thing. It is my goal to make
sure this does not happen to you. This is going to a fun class! Welcome to high school and welcome to
the experience that is Mr. Jackson!
