Complex Sentences
What do you need to create a complex sentence?
How can you change a simple sentence (independent clause)
into a subordinate clause?
Practice: The boy ran home.

a connection between 2 characters?
1)Make sure the comma in the sentence is for an appositive.

characters.

That
DESCRIBES A NOUN
Helpful Hint: If you see a relative pronoun, go ahead and
mark out all answer choices that do not have adjective
clause.
Subordinating Conjunctions
Start:
Adverb Clauses
Subordinate Clauses
Dependent Clauses
Past Perfect Verb Tense
Clue Word: Had
Ends in -ed
Write 3 examples of past perfect verbs
Punctuating Dialogue
When the quote is split (interrupted by the he said/she
said), DO NOT capitalize the beginning of the second part of
the quote.
“I love pizza,” said Chad, “because it is cheesy.”
Write an example.
Prepositional Phrase
Anywhere a mouse can go (in, over, around, up, down)
Can also function as adjective clauses!!!
Write an example where a prepositional phrase is also an
adjective clause.
