Nitrogen Cycle Project

Objective
To increase the students’ knowledge about the aquatic nitrogen cycle and the
importance of nitrogen testing.
Materials




Nitrogen Cycle of an Aquarium handout
Posterboard
Markers
Access to the internet or other resources
Procedure
1.
Give each student a handout and one piece of posterboard.
2.
Have students make a poster of the nitrogen cycle.
3.
Students should also answer the following questions on their poster:

What are the forms of nitrogen that are tested for in aquaculture
systems?


What is the appropriate level of these forms in an aquaculture system?
What will happen to the aquaculture system if these nitrogen forms
reach levels that are too high?
