Education opens the door to knowledge, and knowledge is the key to success. I expect you to bring an open and a positive attitude to this classroom. I strongly encourage you to participate in our classroom discussions and activities because the more you invest in your education, the more you will get out of it. What YOU think and what YOU say are important to creating a successful and enjoyable learning experience. You will be successful in our class if you give your best effort. You are not in competition with anyone except yourself, so challenge yourself and do the very best that you can. If you are ever experiencing difficulties, related to this class or outside of school, please speak with me so I can assist you in any way possible. I look forward to a prosperous semester that is filled with positive learning experiences for both of us.

There are several things that you can do to be successful in this class. I will do all that I can to help, but you must take an active role to ensure your highest level of achievement. Following the class rules is absolutely necessary, so we can achieve our objectives together. Every student in this class has the right to be comfortable in an environment that is conducive to learning. There will be a “zero tolerance” policy in regards to being disrespectful to myself or any student in our classroom. We are here to build a relationship that is centered on trust and respect, so we can accomplish our goals with minimal distractions. You can earn my respect by doing what is expected of you, giving your best effort, being considerate to others, and coming to class with a positive attitude. My philosophy is quite simple:
EARNING RESPECT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
YOUR CHOICES WILL RESULT IN POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES
LIFE IS FULL OF CHOICES, SO THINK BEFORE YOU ACT
You alone are responsible for your actions in this class, and you will be held accountable for your actions. You can take charge of your own destiny by examining the consequences that are relative to the choices that you make. Moreover, you shape how you view yourself, and how others perceive you by choice. I choose to be honest, trustworthy, respectful, and caring because I want others to know that they can count on me. I want to count on you to do your very best, so you can maximize your abilities.

1.
