Unit description: Involves a study of the fundamental principles of graphic
design, including scale, dynamics, texture, colour, composition, third
dimension, typography, image-making, concept and layout. Studio theory is
studied during studio time and in regular additional seminars.

Unit description: Employs set projects which increasingly enable students to
apply and explore a wide range of tools and processes, including desktop
publishing, digital imaging and printing. Projects may include logo design,
illustration, typography, image-making, posters, magazine design and the
development of three-dimensional solutions to visual communication briefs.

Unit description: Is for students majoring in another area, but requiring an
understanding of applied graphic design as an adjunct to their major study.
Studio theory is studied during studio time and in regular additional seminars.

Unit description: Gives students, who are assumed to be familiar with tools
and processes, a thorough understanding of fundamental principles. Set
projects and actual briefs from industry are taken through to finished art and
often into production, giving student portfolios a high level of professionalism.
Students are expected to find successful solutions to set problems while
retaining their individuality. Studio theory is studied during studio time and in
regular additional seminars.

Graphic Design 3A

Unit description: Is for students majoring in another area, but requiring a
developed understanding of the possible applications of Graphic Design, as an
adjunct to their major study. The unit offers some flexibility as to direction,
depending on the students’ areas of interest. Studio theory is studied during
studio time and in occasional additional seminars.
