Social Studies
The students will be making their own
timeline this week! They will also be
reviewing the days of the
week… and months of
the year. Please
practice this with your
child at home.
Please sign and return the
permission slip for our
field trip to Slate Run
Farm. It should be in your
child’s folder today
If you have not sent in the $5.00
check for Scholastic News, please do
so ASAP.
Math
First Grade worked on addition facts this
week. The boys and girls
learned about addition in
kindergarten using
pictures to show their
work… so we will continue to show our
work using math manipulatives and review
math vocabulary for addition: addends, all
together, sum, in a group, in all, etc. Our
class also played some math games using
dice for extra practice and worked on
problems with their white boards!
Language Arts
The students are enjoying books by Eric
Carle.
We have been talking about the job of an
author and illustrator. The students are
learning that fiction books have a
beginning, middle and an end. They also
have characters and a setting! These are
things you can talk about with your child
when you read together.

they all love to listen to stories.
