Colony Slides
Imagine you are a colonist. You have come to the new world in search of
gold, silver, land, religious freedom, political freedom, etc… While this
is very exciting, you miss your family and friends. You have decided you
are going to create a Google Slides to advertise your new home. You
will share your Slides with friends back in Europe who will present
your information at a town meeting in hopes that all your family and
friends will join you in the New World.
RESEARCH-Use the online textbook or the Internet to record the
following information about your colony.
DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA!

On your Brochure, the following items must be included:
HISTORY/RELIGION:
1. What date was the colony founded?
2. What is your colony’s geographic location; New England, Middle or Southern?
3. What country first settled your colony? (If not England, also include when it
became an English colony). Who founded your colony?
4. What was the main town (capital) in your colony?
5. What were the main reasons for founding your colony?
6. What role does Religion play in your colony?
7. ECONOMY: What type of economy did your colony have? (Major crops,
products, etc.)
8. Were there any important interactions with Native Americans? If so, describe
them.
8. What types of labor did slaves do in your colony? Indentured servants?
Apprentices?
9. GOVERNMENT: Who made the laws in your colony? Any important laws or
documents?
10. EDUCATION: What was education like in your colony, and what was the first
college?
11. Were there any important people in your colonial history? If so, list and
describe them.
*After you have finished your Research, look for pictures that you
could put on your Google Slides. *
Include a minimum of (6) illustrations in your Google Slides to showcase your
colony.
The title page of the brochure must include the region of the colonies you are
covering (ex. Middle Colonies). It should have illustrations to promote your colony.
The last page of your Google Slides must include a page listing your resources.
Your questions should be organized in the following categories for your Google
Slides. You will need at LEAST 6 slides.
1. History and Religion
2. Economy
3. Government
4. Education
Please Note:
Do not forget to add the required illustrations, map of the region, and the
information required in the Slides.
