1. arable – adj., suitable for growing crops
2. indulgent – adj., having or indicating a tendency to be overly generous
or lenient on another
3. dialect – n., a particular form of a language that is peculiar to a specific
region or social group
4. barley – n., a member of the grass family, a major cereal grain.
5. terrace – n. a raised level with a vertical sloping front or sides faced
with masonry, turf or the like.
6. torrential – adj., (of rain) falling rapidly and in large amounts
7. affinity – n., a spontaneous or natural liking for someone or something
8. frayed – adj., of a fabric, rope or cord, unraveled or worn at the edge
9. tongue-in-cheek – adv., without really meaning what one is saying or
writing
