All Labs/Field Experience for the EMM Program are with special needs students ( self-contained resource, and or inclusion and include students from diverse backgrounds during their university careers). 2. (SEE Key Assessments) 8 Key Assessments are required in the program. These assessments are completed during field experience and student teaching in the school. Assignments for courses without labs still require implementation interaction with special needs individuals and their families. 3. Mastery Level is required on key assessments so candidates must use feedback to correct, improve and refine their skills to meet program standards. 4. Identify the Diversity of P-12 students based on their gender, ethnicity, racial and socioeconomic levels, native language and exceptionalities in the schools in which education candidates do their clinical practice. ALL EMM placements are in inclusive and specialized classrooms with students with special needs. Field placements occur in a range of school settings (urban, suburban, private, catholic) that offer socioeconomic, racial/ ethical and gender diversity. Optional 1. A mixed methods study (quantitative & qualitative) assessing special education preservice candidates’ preparations for their first year of teaching.
