Community of Public Policies related to Schooling
EDA507 Internship I
ELCC 6.1, 6.2, 6.3
The assignment for candidates states:
“Analyze and critique the process by which the school leadership works with individuals and/or
groups that shape public policy affecting the quality of education for all students. Include issues of
cultural diversity, economic profile of the community, the dimensions of poverty in the district or
surrounding areas, as well as community social norms and sites of conflict. Identify and analyze
records (such as state and federal regulations, web sites, community surveys and their results,
newsletters published by the building and district) that substantiate a planned effort by the leaders of
the school or school district to keep the school community informed and updated on educationrelated state and federal initiatives, regulations, and standards. Identify and analyze records that
confirm efforts by the leaders of the school and/or school district to monitor and influence
education-related legislation.”
