Course Outline:
Our freshman religious education curriculum includes a variety of learning experiences
centered on what it means to be a Catholic Christian today. The focus of this class is to
help you discover, understand and explore who you are, and how that self-knowledge
relates to your relationships with your peers, your family and with God.
Required Texts and materials:
Handbook for today's Catholic Teen (ISBN # 9780764811739)
The Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth
The Catholic Youth Bible
Notebook: Specifically used for this class, whatever type you prefer.
Folder, pen and pencil.
Grading Procedure:
Tests - 40%
Projects/Papers - 20%
Homework - 25%
Participation/Group Work - 15%

All assignments must be handed in on time. Any late work will accepted the next
day only, at 75% credit. No assignments will be accepted via e-mail or faculty
room mail box.
 If you are absent, it is still your responsibility to submit your assignments when
you return.
 Any test or quiz missed during your absence must be made up within a reasonable
timeframe.
 Cheating or plagiarism on any level will not be tolerated
Miscellaneous:
I expect all students to contribute to the class in a spirit of honesty and respect for
themselves and for each other. I will be available before and after class each day, and by
appointment if you have any questions. I look forward to working with each of you and
wish you a wonderful year.
