Celebration of the Epiphany is on January 6th. In Hispanic/Latino and Latin culture, as well as some places in Europe, it is known as Three Kings Day. The term epiphany means “to reveal”. Remembrance of the coming of the wise men brining gifts to visit the Christ child. Through this visit the wise men revealed Jesus to the world as Lord and King. Three King’s Day, or the night before, is the time for opening Christmas gifts. The day is now observed as a time of focusing on the mission of the church in reaching others by showing Jesus as the Savior of all people. Gold was the gift given by Melchoir, a king of Arabia. Frankincense was the gift given by Balthasar, a king from Saba (present day southern Yemen). Myrrh was the gift given by Caspar, a king from Tarus (present day southern Turkey).
