An inker is the artist who outlines the
penciler’s illustrations and gives them
shading; remember line weight? It’s very
important for the inker.
While many people think the inker’s job is
simply tracing, this artist is actually
responsible for a lot more. It is often the
responsibility of the inker to establish the
tone of the comic, and it can be quite difficult
to provide shading that will act as the bridge
between the pencils and the colors.

drawing or painting.
