ONE FAITH, ONE LORD – Chapter 4 1. God sent his only Son to us. The prophets foretold that Jesus would be: o From the family of David, the greatest king of Israel o Born in Bethlehem o The Messiah – God’s Anointed One Annunciation – the announcement that Mary would be the virgin mother of the Son of God 2. Jesus Christ is true God and true man. The Gospels are the accounts of God’s revelation through Jesus Christ – where we find out about who Jesus really is Four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Jesus: o Was the son of Mary o Obeyed his parents and went to Temple o Was a carpenter and enjoyed friendship o Suffered and died o Healed the sick; fed the hungry; forgave people’s sins Incarnation – the truth that the Son of God, the second Person of the Blessed Trinity, became man and lived among us in order to accomplish our Salvation Jesus is both fully human and fully divine 3. Jesus teaches us about God and the Kingdom of God. We learn from Jesus that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Blessed Trinity – the three Divine Persons in one God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit The Kingdom of God is not a place. It is the power of God’s love active in our lives and in our world
