Blasphemy: the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God
Treason: the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government

FAITH VALUES STANDARDS LOYALTY TESTED: We are put to the test during times of
crisis, they all fail or fall and reduce themselves to a lower standard
Peter denies; Judas betrays and commits suicide; Thomas doubts
Pontius Pilate the Roman Governor wants to hold the power without the responsibility; Pilate
avoids responsibility; The roman soldiers take it too far; The crowd turns to violence
With great power comes great responsibility
EXAMPLES OF CONVERSION AND FAITH:




Simon of Cyrene: at first opposes any type of contact with Jesus and then defends Jesus
and helps him carry the cross
Veronica: reveals the true image of face of Christ; she is courageous and brave taking the
risk to show compassion and love for Jesus
VERITAS: Latin word for “truth”
The repentant criminal: confesses his sin and praises worship to Jesus
JESUS: OUR MODEL AND TEACHER:
JESUS: “Those who live by the sword; die by the sword”





Jesus reveals his fully human and fully divine natures as he prays
in the garden of Gethsemane, stands trial, faces his accusers, is
brutally flogged and scourged, carries the cross and is crucified
Jesus falls and rises every time, always the higher standard
Jesus is the model of love, truth, sacrifice, forgiveness;
Jesus Prays for and forgives his enemies;
“If we love only those who love us, what good is that?
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy
may be complete.”
“I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the
sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just
as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my
life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold.
These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be
one flock, one shepherd. This is why the Father loves me, because I
lay down my life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from me,
but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to
take it up again. This command I have received from my Father.”
