Name: _____________________________ What makes Genocide? While it may be the most well known, the Holocaust was not the only genocide in history. Since the end of World War 2, there have been at least five different cases of genocide. These events include Cambodia in 1975, Rwanda in 1990, Iraq in 1983, Bosnia in 1995, and Darfur in 2003. In order to understand what truly makes agenocide, we will examine several of these instances and create our own schema for this term. Assignment: We will complete this assignment in two parts. Part A will require research with your partner using approved academic websites such as the one’s below. You are required to research at least two genocides in addition to the Holocaust, and complete the chart below. When you have completed the chart, please show at least one copy of your pairing’s chart to me for credit. When you are finished with the chart, use a visual medium of your choice (Google Slides, PowerPoint, Explain Everything, Numbers, Pages etc) to demonstrate your definition of Genocide along with at least FOUR defining characteristics of Genocide (what needs to happen/be in order for something to be Genocide). Don’t forget examples of these characteristics.
