Mr. Bradshaw Wins OfficeMax Award
Brian Bradshaw, one of Edison’s sixth
grade teachers was awarded a $1,000
kit of supplies after his nomination was
selected by OfficeMax and the “A Day
Made Better” campaign. Riverview
Store Manager Pat Pry and his
associates came to Edison October 4th
to surprise him in class with his award.
While there were numerous supplies, the
highlights were a new digital camera and
photo printer for use within his class.
His teammates, Heidi Cave and Karrene
Park, helped us to pull off the surprise by
shifting students and delivering a
believable story about student needs
and cancelled recess to get him
occupied for the arrival.
Halloween Holiday Notes
Students may not wear costumes to school on October 31st. Please
save this kind of dressing up, hair color changes, etc. for that evening.
Remind kids to be safe if your family is going out. Know where you are
going, stick to your plan and avoid homes that are dark and
undecorated. Please let parents check your items before eating them.
Edison Sports Programs
The CDC recommends at least 60 minutes of activity each day for
elementary age students to stay healthy. To help meet this need,
Edison is building programs to promote a healthy lifestyle. Deb Wolf
and Marshall Kahn, Edison PE teachers, are both hosting after school
activities to boost students activity levels. Deb Wolf is hosting two
programs. During lunch, she has organized Intramural sports to allow
students to learn and compete in organized sports. She has started
with football and classroom teams compete several days each week.
Her other program is the Running/Jogging Club that had over 100
students for its first meeting. Mr. Kahn, is sponsoring flag-football as
well on Tuesday afternoons to get students learning the game and
improving their skills.

Each Friday, Edison students are encouraged
to wear their school colors (red white and blue)
and/or school shirts to show their school spirit.
PTO is getting the new shirts soon. Please
check back for more information on cost, sizes
and availability.

these ideas:
Set a good example. Do not bully others.
If it is safe, speak up. Say something like, “Stop it!”
Tell an adult. Kids who are being bullied are sometimes scared to tell an adult. That is where you come in--tell an
adult who you trust, like your teacher or coach. You can tell them in person or leave them a note.
Be a friend to the person who is being bullied. You can still help the kid who is being bullied:
Talk with them. Sit with them at lunch. Play with them at recess. Be nice to others.

Edison earned a rating of Performing Plus and a letter grade of “C” in the AZ Learns system. We
will be working this year to raise both areas of performance ratings from the state. A link to help
families with labels…http://www.mpsaz.org/research/testing/
MPS as a district earned a B for their rating. It is the first time for schools and districts to get this
kind of rating.
