Lon Po Po
Your child is reading, “Lon Po Po: A Red Riding Hood Story from China” translated by Ed
Young. This folktale, set in China, is a story of three young children that outwit a cunning
wolf who claims to be their Po Po, or grandmother. The wolf’s greed for gingko nuts,
however, saves the children’s lives. Discuss a few familiar fairy tales that you and your
child have heard or read. How could you create a new version?
