Turtle Bay
Your child has been reading “Turtle Bay” by Saviour Pirotta. This story tells about a young
boy named Taro who helps his wise old friend Jiro-San clean up the beach. They are
preparing for the arrival of some “secret” old friends of Jiro-San’s. The old friends turn
out to be giant sea turtles that swim ashore to the nest. Invite your child to retell
“Turtle Bay” in his or her own words. Then ask your child to describe the part of the story
he or she liked best.
