Making TWO 2 x 2 Cards
• Cut along the lines to create TWO 2 x 2
index cards

Creating your Tessellation
• With a pencil, creatively connect two
consecutive corners of your 2 x 2 card
• Cut along the line CAREFULLY
• Translate the piece to the opposite side of
the card and tape the flat edges together
(there should be NO OVERLAP).
• With a pencil, creatively connect two other
consecutive corners of your 2 x 2 card
• Cut along the line CAREFULLY

• Write your name, date, and class period
on the index pattern.

• Translate the shape horizontally and vertically to
create a page FULL of your design. Each new
drawing should fit like a puzzle piece into the
ones on each side. Do not leave any gaps.
Finishing Touches
• Come up with a creative and interesting
design for your tessellation.
• Color it completely.
• Mount the design on a piece of
construction paper.
• On the back, write your name, date, and
class period.
• On the back, also write the title of your
design in quotes.
