Introductory comments
This four year (minimum) combined degree of Bachelor of Arts–Bachelor of Computing is
offered on the Launceston and Hobart campuses, and the first year at the North-West
Centre, by the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Science and Engineering. The course is
studied on-campus, although some Bachelor of Arts units are offered by distance
education. Subject to attendance and timetable requirements, part-time studies are also
available. Students have a maximum of ten years to complete the course.
Admission & prerequisites
Applicants are expected to meet the normal requirements set by the University for entry to
degree courses. No specific course or subject prerequisites apply.

Career outcomes
Refer to ‘Career outcomes’ for the respective degree courses.
Course structure
Students are required to complete 400% weighting of units, half of them taken from the
Bachelor of Arts schedule and the other half from the Bachelor of Computing schedule. In
the BComp component, students must take:
First year computing core units
Second year computing core units
Third year computing units

In the Bachelor of Arts component, students must select units to meet the requirement for
a minimum of one major in one discipline. A major is defined as completion of 25% at
level 100 and 75% at levels 200/300.
Where two or more units of the same name or content are offered within the University,
only one may be counted towards the degree. The student’s choice of units and the order
in which they are taken are subject to approval by the deans of the respective faculties.
Articulation
Articulation arrangements are the same as for the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of
Computing.
