Excellent job thus far this semester everybody! XV. New Business a. Constitution and Statutory Changes on 1st Reading b. Senate and Joint Resolutions on 1st Reading c. Legislation considered for 2nd Reading a. SB-13S-2681: Cabinet Transformation Act of 2013 b. SB-13S-2681A: Cabinet Transformation Act of 2013 Will go through this line-by-line and then explain the reasoning behind it. Will explain both of them at the same time and then can vote on them separately. 402.2- states that the senate president pro tempore will assist the senate president and will also serve as the chair of the constitution and statutes committee. Under the constitutions and statutes committee, strike pro tempore as a voting member. Basically, this is combining the pro tempore and CSC chair positions. There are a lot of tasks that are separated between the two and deal with the same issues. It makes more sense to combine the two. Sen. Dykes- would you be increasing the hours? For the fiscal year, both have 15 hours allotted. I suggest 25 hours and the other 5 hours to be allotted to someone else. Motion from Sen. Ramirez to approve SB-13S-2681. Second. No objections. Discussion: Sen. Ramirezthink this is very smart, will decrease redundancies and will make it more efficient. Motion from Sen. Stevens for unanimous consent. Second. No objections. Moved.
