Motion from Sen. Fountain to approve the minutes from October 1. Second. No objections. Moved.

Approval of Agenda
Motion form Sen. Stevens to strike Sen. Hebeishy from absentee points. Second. No objections.
Motion from Sen. Hebeishy to approve the agenda as amended. Second. No objections. Moved.

New Business

SR-12F-2638: Service Member Appreciation Act- Senator Petroysan
Have the wording of the legislation that I am proposing. There are some grammatical errors. You may
ask why this legislation is important. Would like to explain my perspective. After reading excerpt by
marine corp. we must recognize the military men. The only difference between ospreys and
Tallahassee is ignoring military. We say a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance but think this is
important to add because it will raise our standards and make us look good. If you see a high-ranking
official they will be appreciated by us.

The changes to make are just grammatical.
Sen. Hebeishy- for misspellings, are they just friendlies?
Yes.
Motion from Sen. Fountain to approve SR-12F-2638. Second. No objections. Discussion: Sen.
Fountain- is passionate about it, I like that he wrote this bill. Pres. Varshovi- he brought this to me
and I thought this was great to recognize those that serve us but I don’t know if this is the most
practical thing to do before each senate meeting. Sen. Amira- agree; don’t know if it is the most
practical thing before each meeting.

Absentee Points
o Senator Robinson
Trying to appeal 3 absentee points. One osprey voice I didn’t go to. The others were senate
meetings. Another committee meeting I was just late for. Missed 8/20, 9/10, 9/17, 10/8 and
received a half point for the committee on Sept. 10.
Sen. Edwards- how many have gone through Sen. Stevens?
Sen. Stevens - 4 were appealed
Sen. Lundy- during appeals people usually give details as to why they were late or missed,
was there anything that caused these?
No really, I know one day at senate I didn’t turn on the clicker but was here.
Sen. Lundy- do you feel that you will be better about being here?
Yes.
Sen. Fountain- what is your plan of action to prevent this in the future?
Trying to leave my house earlier.
Sen. Stevens- how many are you looking to cut and why?
All but osprey voice because that one I didn’t put a reminder and forgot so 3 and a half
points.
Sen. Stevens- 3 senates and one committee?
Yes.
Sen. Hebeishy- so why should we appeal if it was just a lack of judgment?
I guess that’s on you guys, I am saying that I made a mistake.

o Senator Broskie
Like to appeal 3 of 4 points. One from osprey voice with was a lapse of judgment, which is
my fault. Another was the second night of the Chick-fil-a issue in senate. Wanted to remove
my self from the situation because my temper was flaming from another senators temper so
was there for the beginning but not end. Another I missed because of my brother’s football
injury.
Sen. Stevens- for the full senate one, why didn’t you come and appeal it?
Didn’t receive an email about it.
Sen. Stevens- do you think that if something is not going the way you want it to go that you
can leave?
No, I’m not saying the way I want it but the behavior was inappropriate.
Motion from Sen. Amira to appeal Sen. Broskie for 2 absentee points from 10/8. Second. No
objections. Discussion- Sen. Stevens- everyone has an opportunity, have always sent out the
emails and we could have avoided the whole situation so I am not for. Sen. Fountain- senate
is a bi weekly occurrence so he should have known. Sen. Edwards- You can only appeal once
per term so this would be the only opportunity.

Passes 7-0-2.
