Coach Matthew Driscoll
Cannot thank you all enough for what you do. Since the past 3 years of osprey nation, it is at an all
time high. The way you guys treat me on campus, means so much to me. Thanks for the respect. I
know you’re voting on the tailgate tonight and I want to say that I think we need events that bring
students together and the value of this will become more and more as the traditions continues. I
think this is important. And if you need a taste tester at your tailgate, I’m your guy.
Katie DelaneyI ask that you volunteer your time tomorrow to work at the polls tomorrow and that you act non
partisan, not wearing anything that will only pertain to certain students. If you experience any
issues at the poll please contact me.

Ask that you all pay attention tonight, there is a lot coming through and the tailgate request is a lot
of money so pay attention. I also was able to attend a conference for student government this
weekend and learned a lot that we will be sharing with you all.

Senate Committee Chair Reports
a. Elections and Appointments Committee – Chairman Joel Versace – sgaesac@unf.edu
Need you all to show up on time for your shift for the voting polls. Do not wear red or yellow. Do
not talk about CRs on the ballot. While you are a polling station worker, you must be entirely
neutral. If you haven’t signed up, you need to. You will loose 3 points per day, which you all know is
a lot of points. Check your locations on the sign up sheet. Please show up on time. Have elections
shirts you can wear or can wear SG polo.
Sen. Delgado- if a non-senator walks through the poll with a parties shirt, is that okay?
No party can be represented in the polling region.
b. Constitution and Statutes Committee – Chairman Jerry Barrs – sgacsc@unf.edu
Like Joel said, show up to your polling station so that you do not have to come into CSC. Look over
SR-12F-2638, it passed in committee.
c. Student Advocacy Committee- Chairwoman Megan Jones- sgasac@unf.edu
The Osprey Voice shirts came in, come get one after Senate if you haven’t yet. Hopefully you were
able to look at the JR. It presents a name for the clubhouse, which we had a great discussion about.
d. Budget and Allocations Committee – Chairman Christopher Brady sgabac@unf.edu
Had one travel request for the pre-law society in committee that passed. Have requests coming in
tonight. Also a bill to fix some kinks we ran into.
e. University Affairs Committee - Chairwoman Monica Bowman – sgauac@unf.edu
Went over several committee meetings last week. Falsifying police reports were discussed and
ways to prevent this through different counseling options and educating them on the consequences
of this. Osprey TV will now have airtime at FSCJ. The Space committee discussed that the student
wellness center is fully open and operational. Varsity Lane is the new name of the road to lot 18.
Exam lengths are being discussed, for instance, classes that last 3 hours teachers ask if the exam
will be 3 hours as well. Moving to a single scantron system was also talked about. The parking
advisory counsel discussed the congestion in the premium parking lots. Also said that students are
leaving their cars that have been ticketed and are looking for a policy to change that a student can
continue to be ticketed.
XII.
Student Government Executive Reports
a. Attorney General – Joe Turner - sgaag@unf.edu (3-minutes)
Elections are tomorrow and Wednesday. You must file all violations to me. Familiarize yourself
with what a violation is. Come by the office and if I am not there leave a note or email me. There are
2 objectives of elections; to insure polls are run properly and that all violations are filed.
b. Treasurer – Billy Namen - sgasbt@unf.edu (3-minutes)
Not present.
c. Vice- President – Mike Naughton - sgavpres@unf.edu (3-minutes)
Thursday, October 25 is the Pick Two sales event, the next jags ticket sales. Session is not the same
as the student session we had but it is still a great deal. This week, we went over our SG with the SG
of UWF. They visited the campus and we got ideas from each other. There is a JR for the name idea
for the new clubhouse. Have a clubhouse meeting coming up and will have some new drawing for
you.
d. President – Carlo Fassi – sgapres@unf.edu (5-minutes)
Like to echo everything that Coach Driscoll just discussed with you. This tailgating policy is really
going to help our athletics division 1 program. The parking advisory met and like to congratulate

our chief justice Alex Geotts as being elected in that committee. All faculty and staff members can
park in premium. Our chief justice, senate pres, and associate chief justice will be presenting a
resolution to help the ratio so that those students that have bought a premium are not looking for
spots that are not there. Our treasurer is not here, he is drafting a budget for free printing. The last
two administrations have requested money for the ropes coarse and the papa johns and chick-fil-a
request so that the students’ money is not just left sitting. On November 15 the student fee
assessment committee is making a request to the student trustees. The senate president and I went
to a convention and we learned a lot of interesting tidbits. I would have to say that the other
student governments and the states across the country do not recognize the students like the state
of Florida does. Most are only able to plan small clubs and other smaller business items. The
committees met and the president’s annual report was divided into 2 parts. We were a large
commuter school and now we are not. 5 goals were outlines. Our retentions rates are slowing
increasing however not as much as the president would like to see. Recruit and support a diverse
group of students and staff. Recognize research and career endeavors. There is a lot of data
collected and given in this report. Have doubled in numbers of students that attend two year and
public schools. The state of Florida has been given a cut over the past four years. This is a national
issue. And this is why Aim Higher, the campaign we have adopted, is so important. We will be
sending hand written letters for this cause. We need to make sure this is one of our top priorities.

SB-12F-2642: Executive Branch Tailgates – Senator Thomas Ritter
Presented by Carlo Fassi
Over the last couple months we have been urging student to have tailgates, which is something that
other campuses do. We came up with a tailgating policy for 3 hours prior to the games in lot 18. We
need to set a policy to get students out there. The president asks that they provide some incentives
to get students out there. Asked that free food be given to the first 200 students. And Sen. Keen, you
asked about vegetarian options and they are on board with that as well. Also with the number of
students that have been confirmed for using the lend a wing pantry, giving out free food is a great
incentives.
Sen. Estrada- Why 11 tailgates?
Those 11 tailgates are for the weekend basketball games, the JU games, major basketball games and
double-header games. None of the tailgates will be Monday – Wednesday to help students not be
distracted from class.
Sen. Hebeishy- how was this chosen?
This stems from the amount that came to the JU women’s soccer game.
Motion from Sen. Hebeishy to approve SB-12F-2642 for the full amount. Second. No objections.
Discussion: Sen. Bowman- think it’s a great idea. For those who went to the soccer game it was a
huge success. Sen. Caudio- tailgating is a really big part of a college experience so I’m all for it.
Sen. Galanti- like to point out that this is strictly for food even though the stereotype makes you
think alcohol but this is just for food.
Electronic vote.
Passes 37-0-0.
SB-12F-2643: Judicial Branch – Senator Samantha Delgado
Chief Justice Geotts- going to be making constitutions this size but will have a link to find the statues
as well. The request is for 232.50.
Sen. Hebeishy- are you just putting the constitution into the handout or breaking it down?
Just a handout, will be putting into a book this size.
Motion from Sen. Hebeishy to approve SB-12F-2643 for the full amount. Second. No objections.
Discussion: Sen. Petrosan- like to compliment the SG to let the legislative branch let the students be
informed. Sen. Estrada- great to get the students to know the constitution. This is a great
opportunity for them to learn.
Electronic vote.
Passes.
Motion from Sen. Stevens to reopen the agenda. Second. No objections. Moved.

This is to address the growing problem of parking on our campus. Many of times there is not

a single space in a garage. Due to our ratio students do not have that chance.
Questions?
Sen. Howard- how will this ratio be lowered?
Chief Justice- JR just votes to lower it in general and the judicial board will decide.
Sen. Browski- do you have the numbers adjusted including faculty?
Sold at a 2.4 ratio, still under the ratio. On occasion faculty and staff park in premium spots
and there are day passes. So makes about a 2.6 so would like to lower the ratio to even out.
Sen. Petrosan- can you go over the day you spoke about having the issue?
Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm is the prime issue.
Attorn. Gen. Turner- the JR is the hand out, not apart of the packet.
Sen. Ucciardo- how will this effect lot 18, 14, and 53?
These passes are a problem as well but mostly just the first week or two. At a minimum 40
spots available in those lots whereas premium have 28 spots available.
Sen. Galanti – will there ever be parking at the UC or the golf complex?
To be honest I don’t know, those numbers aren’t really involved.
Motion Sen. Delgado to approve JR-12F-2645. Second. No objections. Discussion: Sen.
Delgado- with the discount thing, lot 53 almost always has parking and there are a lot of
premium parking in lot 18. Still see a lot of premium passes in lot 18. Sen. Jones- as a senator,
people always ask me when are you going to fix parking. Sen. Petrosan- so this will reduce
those who can purchase that pass. I will not have the ability to purchase if I have the money
and will have to walk from 18 to the classroom. If I can afford and its first come first serve.
Sen. Barrs- there is already a cap on it. Been a premium user since freshman year, if we sell
that pass and call it premium that’s what is should be and give them better parking and the
more credit hours you’ve taken you have the ability to get the permit. Sen. Hebeishy- to
clarify, this is targeting the ratio of the daily parking pass spots? Chief Justice- No, will be
reducing the amount of premium sold. Daily passes will be difficult to limit those. Sen.
Galanti- this is a catch 22, going to help and hurt people. No one will park in alum hall or the
town center. This is going to help and make more efficient. The pass cost so much more for a
reason. Still going to be plenty of spots but need to be proactive about buying your pass. Sen.
Keen- add that this may help the bike sharing initiative. Sen. Versace- how many students
buy and how is the order of it being sold? Chief Justice- It starts with students with 90 plus
hours then 60 plus hours, and so on. But they are available for a full month.
Motion from Sen. Brady for unanimous consent. Second. No objections. No discussion.
Moved.
c. Legislation considered for 2nd Reading
d. Senate and Joint Resolutions on 2nd Reading
a. SR-12F-2638: Service Member Appreciation Act – Senator Gurgen Petroysan
This bill is a legislative body because any legislative body needs a time to require those who
serve our country. The only difference between us and Tallahassee is we do not require to
recognize those who serve. We say the pledge and pray but do not recognize them. Does not
say how it will be done, it just says it must be done. The constitution is compatible to the
state constitution and the country’s constitution. How can you pledge of allegiance without
recognizing those who are fighting for our country. It is important to pass this bill.
Sen. Brady- what made you choose veterans instead of law enforcement and others who risk
their lives?
Think that is great to also appreciate them but police officer comes back home at 5 pm and
the military are deployed away from home. And if we miss this opportunity, I think that is
not good. Wish to read something to you all.
Sen. Caudio- what is it that you want to read to us?

Some one wrote that, it is the soldier that gave us the freedom of speech, the freedoms we
have and the flag. This applies to the soldiers of all branches.
Sen. Antworth- how will we know that there are military in this room?
I hope that during prayer that the military can sit in the back and we can recognize them and
I will applaud them.
Sen. Stevens- so you want to do a standing ovation after the pledge of allegiance?
No after the pledge, I ask that we will recognize them in the back and then I will clap my
hands for them.
Motion from Sen. Hebeishy to approve SR-12F-2638. Second. No objections. Discussion: Sen.
Brady- I think we are going to hit a slippery slope, we cannot recognize one specific group
because we are here to recognize the whole student body and this will single others out. Sen.
Delgado- we have a veterans center on campus and not one for others. Sen. Hebeishy- do not
think we are singling out specific groups of students, this is for all veterans nationally to
come to. Sen. Brady- but the people who come to the meetings are ospreys and so it would
be. Sen. Antworth- agree with Sen. Brady. Sen. Edwards- think he has taken the time to write
this bill and we can take the time to honor them a couple seconds in a meeting. Sen. Keenthink that we should honor those who have sacrificed their lives and not just a career. Sen.
Doty- think this includes a lot besides just the military, this bill is an umbrella to honor many.
Sen. Versace- think this is good but may not be necessary. I do not agree with the application.
We say the pledge and have the flag and that’s what we are doing already is honoring them
and the country. If this does pass I ask that we strike the line stating honor family.
Electronic Vote.
Sen. Versace- can I abstain if this directly affects me?
Sen. Amira- valid abstention.
Attorn. Gen.- if you think this will sway vote, don’t vote.
Sen- only in the guest area, so no abstentions are needed.
Does not pass 18-0-21.
Sen. Ramirez- JR is endorsing the new name for the clubhouse. Decided on Osprey
Clubhouse. Like to keep osprey in the name since all the dorms around the area do as well
but of coarse can be shortened to clubhouse.
VP Naughton- this was a survey with resident life and there 3 top choices were: the nest, the
osprey nest, and the osprey clubhouse. And the nest is already the name of the inside of the
arena. So like to use the osprey clubhouse.
Sen. Howard- the survey seems ineffective if their top choices are already used names.
Students did let them know and this was still the top name.
Motion from Sen. Hebeishy to approve JR. Second. No objections. Discussion: Sen. Howardproblem that there may be confusion that students may think this is for clubs and club
alliance. Sen. Caudio- don’t think it is fun enough, wanted something more fun like the egg.
Sen. Barrs- when you look at the name there needs to be a connection to what it actually is.
Motion from Sen. Hebeishy for unanimous consent. Second. No objections. No discussion.
Passes.
