Catherine E. Case Memorial Scholarship - UNF This scholarship was created in memory of UNF student Catherine E. Case. In March 2011, Catherine was a beautiful, bright, and energetic 22-yr-old senior studying Biology at UNF when her life was suddenly and tragically cut short by an alcohol impaired driver. In her honor, University of North Florida posthumously awarded Catherine a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology – her father Terry accepted the award on her behalf at the April 2011 commencement ceremony. Catherine was born and raised in Jacksonville. Even as a small child, she loved all of nature’s “critters”, especially lizards and snakes. She was fiercely independent. Her junior and senior years she worked 32 hours per week at Costco in addition to her full time studies at UNF. Her strong work ethic, leadership qualities, respect for others and positive attitude were leading factors in her success. She lived life to the fullest and embraced opportunities for new experiences. She loved to travel and was always looking forward to the next adventure whether it was hiking, biking, skiing or some other outdoor venture. She enjoyed her studies and professors at UNF and was so excited to participate in the coastal biology course at Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve. She was planning a career as a Physician’s Assistant. Catherine’s spirit of love, laughter, kindness to animals, and happiness lives on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
