Music Education Update: Jen Kane said Music Education is housed in COAS but we hold the responsibility for certification. Megan Schramm-Possinger works with them to meet all the State requirements. We did allow them to offer their own field so they could have a music specific field experience. Enrollment/Recruitment needs: Enrollment target numbers are set by Enrollment Services and on your handouts are their realistic target projections. The budget is determined by these projections and you must meet your target or there will be consequences – they allocate resources based on whether or not you’ve met those targets. We show 91.92% of our targeted FTE for the Spring and this is not where we need to be. As you can see recruitment is important. How can we recruit more students? For example, we have a military resource next to us so we could put a session together to pick up students from this. Enrollment drives which programs stay and which ones don’t. A discussion ensued on how we can recruit more students. Non-certification programs might be a good place to put our energy right now. Encourage enrollment and be proactive. We encourage you to have discussions with your chairs about programs with low graduation rates. We need to go after people since they are not coming to us. Look for a group of people that need something we can offer. John Venn added that Albert Colom and Dan Moon will be joining their department meeting for improving enrollment marketing. We will get together to share recruitment ideas. Megan Schramm-Possinger asked that you let her know about your recruitment meetings so she can take notes for the State. Homecoming/Tent City: Nicole Pece said this year’s homecoming theme is “Go Big and Come Home” and it will be held from February 13 - February 20. They plan to have many activities throughout that week, including an alumni recognition awards dinner where DEAC member, Sam Inman, will be receiving the service award. Jen Kane added that Tent City will be located at the arena courtyard and each college will have a tent. It will be from 3 pm – 7 pm on Saturday, February 20 and we will have a tent for alumni to drop by. The basketball game will start at 7 pm. There will be food and a live band. We need to decide what activities should happen inside the tent. We’d like to highlight the good works of our college and make it fun so send your ideas to Nicole Pece. Deirdre Meehan will send out the link for photo permission slips so we can use your international student photos on our webpage. FTCE: Megan Schramm-Possinger said if pass rates are lower than the State, it needs your attention and we need to look at ways to improve it. Kelly Scott will work on an online tutorial and we will start this this summer with a free 0 credit course manned by an adjunct. It was suggested that we get groups together to have content discussions to see if we are addressing the content well. A discussion ensued and it was agreed to relate competencies, skills and critical thinking to the courses you’re teaching. Whatever mechanisms faculty are using to improve these pass rates, submit them to Megan Schramm-Possinger so she can report them to the State. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 2:35 pm and the next meeting will be on Friday, February 5, 2016.
